"I have kidnapped all of the fairies and their Queen. If you want them, you must come to the Ghost Realm. I'll be waiting..." |
Wandy the Wizard is the main antagonist and final boss of Pac-Man All-Stars. Despite that there are no cutscenes for the game, he was responsible for kidnapping Pac-Land's fairies that made power pellets. Wandy then casts a spell across Pac-Land which then weakens the rest of the ghosts. The family of Pacs then compete against each other to be the one who rescues the most fairies, defeats Wandy, and save the day.
History
Not much is known about Wandy and his history, but one day he came out of nowhere after what seemed to be a peaceful time in Pac-Land now that Blinky and the Ghost Gang stopped their pursuit on Pac-Man and his pals. After strange noises emanated from the dimensional portal leading to the Ghost Realm, it led the Pacs to be concerned that the Ghost Gang were back. One day after, Pac-Man found a note from Wandy attached to his door, saying how Wandy has kidnapped all of the fairies, including their queen, and that he will be expecting Pac-Man to arrive in the Ghost Realm. Since no Pac has ever attempted to go into the Ghost Realm, he enlisted the help of Ms. Pac-Man, Pac-Junior, and Professor Pac-Man to come along with him to save the fairies.
In the Ghost Realm, it is also said that Wandy has conducted mad experiments onto the ghosts, draining the energy within the realm, making the other ghosts weak, which also implies the Ghost Gang were affected as well. Because of this, the other ghosts cannot kill the Pacs, rather stun them and eliminate some points from them. Like all Pac-Man villains, Wandy likes to toy around with his victims, making his hat fall down occasionally during a level and spicing up the games a bit.
Once the Pacs freed the other fairies, they confront Wandy in his castle, defeat him in battle, and save the Queen of the fairies. It is unknown where Wandy is afterwards, probably gone for good.
Appearance
Wandy appears as a grey ghost donning blue gloves and a blue wizard's hat with stars and moons and a buckle on it. He also has a happy expression on his face. He also wields a wizard's wand, which he can use to cast spells and attack the Pacs.
Powers/Abilities
Wandy's hat can fall down occasionally during a level, eventually resting on the ground. If a Pac touches the hat, Wandy casts a temporary spell from afar. Wandy's spells can affect all of the Pacs in the game, and not just the one who bumped into the hat. He can also fire various spell blasts at the Pacs during his boss fight.
Wandy can cast the following spells:
- Bouncy Bouncy: The force exerted by inter-Pac collisions is increased.
- Don't Stop: All Pacs constantly accelerate and cannot stop.
- Shrink Ray: All Pacs are shrunk to half-size, and top speed is also cut in half.
- Super Grip: Pacs do not slide when turning.
- Hiccups: Pacs jump a bit at regular intervals.
- Sticky: Pacs stick to the ground, making it difficult to move.
- Earthquake: Pacs are relocated randomly.
- Even the Odds: The Pac with the highest score receives a 20% score reduction.
- Super Score Blaster: Multipliers (combos) increase in multiples of two.
Trivia
- It is unknown if Wandy is against the ghosts as well as the Pacs, or merely wants to be the one in control of the Ghost Realm, as evident when he conducted mad experiments on drone ghosts, and weakening the rest of the ghosts, which might include the Ghost Gang as well.
- Why Wandy would kidnap the fairies in the first place is unknown, but it is most likely that Wandy took note how the fairies in Pac-Land create the power pellets, which is a source of power for the Pacs. If he would kidnap them and take them into the Ghost Realm, there would be no more power pellets for the Pacs, and since no Pac ever crossed the Ghost Realm, it would be near impossible. But Pac-Man and his pals found a way to even the odds and defeat Wandy for good.
